Gifts for my brother and sister-in-law Part 2

I made a nursing cover using this tutorial! It was super easy, the tutorial was a little confusing but having seen one before I figured it out.

Gifts for my brother and sister-in-law

My brother and sister-in-law are having their third girl in June. I decided to get started on making gifts for them. This is my first project. It took maybe an hour, but I cut out fabric for my next project as well.

I used cotton for the outside and fleece for the interior. I cut the fabric approx. 13 in. X 35 in. Sewed the wrongs sides together, turned and then added a top stitch all the way around. I then put a diaper and wipes case on to measure the pocket. Pinned and sewed to reinforce the pocket down. I added a Velcro closure. I think it turned out really well. She can just grab it out of the diaper bag and have everything she needs to change the little one.

This is what it looks like closed.

This is what it looks like open. Just lay baby down on top and pull out what you need.

First step to opening an Etsy.com account!

Today I made samples (gifting to a friend) of the first thing I will probably put up on Etsy. I'm not sure when I will be ready to actually start selling, but I have lots of this fabric and thought it would be the perfect thing to start with.

It was also fun to play around with some fonts.

A gift for a friend!

I worked on these all weekend. I probably have about 4-5 hours in them between cutting, pinning, sewing, embroidering, and finishing. I really impressed myself over the weekend. I love the fabric and they turned out great. They are much better than the first attempts a few weeks ago.

Getting a little more ambitious!

My Niece's 6th birthday is just around the corner. I like to bring a little something extra her and her little sister can open early and enjoy before the excitement of the party. I decided to make Crayon Rolls for each and try out the embroidery attachment on my new sewing machine.

They really turned out great!

I've been a busy bee!

I've been very busy learning how to sew. Here are a few of my first projects.

First I made some burp cloths!

Here is the tutorial I followed.

Then I decided to try a bib!

After the bib, I got very ambitious and made some Taggies!

Block Tutorial and Blanket Tutorial

To end my weekend of sewing I made a nail apron, like the ones from Lowes. I wear it all the time at work. (I'm a teacher!)

I was then finished sewing with my new sewing machine until next time!
